reiki healing

Sessions are shared both in person at The Hive and virtually through zoom

what is reiki?

Reiki is a spiritual, energetic practice rooted in the principle of ahimsa—non-harming. It is not something I give or do to you. It is something I invite, allow, and hold space for. I am simply a vessel. Like a riverbed guides water, I guide the flow of this intelligent, loving energy.

Reiki is universal life force energy. It knows where to go and what to do. It supports the healing of body and mind, spirit and soul, flesh and feeling. It can do no harm—it simply asks for consent to be received.

Whether you're returning to this ancient medicine or meeting it for the first time, Reiki can offer deep restoration, clarity, and balance. It meets you exactly where you are—with grief or chronic pain, emotional fatigue or spiritual disconnection, curiosity or longing for a softer way.

Sessions are tailored to your needs. Reiki may be offered with or without touch. It can be accompanied by crystals and stones, music and drumming, guided meditation, movement, breath work, or silent prayer. Each session is sacred, intuitive, and uniquely yours.

I do not charge for the healing itself. The energy is not mine to sell. What you are investing in is my time, presence, training, and the care it takes to create a safe and attuned healing container—whether in person or online.

A Few Notes About Reiki:

Reiki (霊気) is a Japanese word that translates to “universal life force energy.” Rei refers to the spiritual or sacred aspect of life, while Ki is the vital energy that flows through all living beings.

This healing practice originated in early 20th-century Japan through Mikao Usui, who taught that true healing arises through spiritual connection, compassionate presence, and dedicated practice. Reiki is not a belief system—it is a subtle, vibrational energy medicine that works beneath the surface of thought, language, and logic.

Reiki supports healing on all levels—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It gently guides the nervous system into a state of deep rest, where repair, release, and remembrance can occur. Research shows that Reiki can reduce pain, ease anxiety, improve sleep, and support overall well-being. It is now offered in many hospitals, hospices, and wellness settings around the world as an integrative healing modality.

But Reiki is more than a method of relaxation—it is a return to wholeness.

In my practice, Reiki aligns with the mission of my work:

To offer safe, sacred space for people to heal from trauma, move through grief, and reconnect with their inner wisdom and light.

It is not about “fixing” what is broken—it is about remembering who you are beneath the pain. Reiki helps reawaken the soul’s voice, the body’s knowing, and the heart’s original rhythm.

Whether offered in-person or from a distance, Reiki is equally effective. It is not bound by time or location. It meets you where you are—whether you’re lying in bed, sitting in nature, or on the other side of the world.

Children, animals, and even plants respond beautifully to Reiki. It transcends language and cognition. It speaks in vibration, presence, and unconditional love.

FAQs:

if you have a question, concern, curiosity that isn't here, please rest assured you can reach out directly here:

What should I do to prepare for a session?

Create a calm space where you won’t be disturbed. You can lie down or sit comfortably. You may want to have a blanket, water, journal, or anything else that helps you feel at ease. Light a candle, play soft music, or simply show up as you are. Let this be time for you to receive.

How often should I receive Reiki?

That depends on your needs. Some people come weekly for ongoing support, while others schedule monthly or seasonally. You are always welcome to trust your own rhythm. I’m happy to help you find a flow that feels nourishing and sustainable.

What does a Reiki session feel like?

Reiki feels different for everyone. You may experience warmth, tingling, waves of sensation, deep stillness, or even emotion rising to the surface. Many people feel deeply relaxed, held, or peacefully energized. Some don’t “feel” anything—and that’s okay, too. Reiki is still working beneath the surface. There is no right or wrong way to receive.

What can Reiki help with?

Reiki is not a replacement for medical care, but it is a powerful complement to healing. It can support:

  • Anxiety, grief, and emotional overwhelm
  • Chronic stress and nervous system regulation
  • Physical pain and fatigue
  • Spiritual disconnection or burnout
  • Trauma healing and inner child work
  • Deepening meditation, sleep, and clarity

It is gentle enough for those who are sensitive, and powerful enough to support transformation.

Is distance Reiki really effective?

Yes. Reiki is energy—it transcends time and space. Distance Reiki is just as powerful as in-person healing. Many people feel the energy just as strongly, if not more so, because they’re in the comfort of their own home. All that’s needed is your consent and willingness to receive.

Do I have to believe in Reiki for it to work?

No. Reiki does not require belief, only permission. It is not tied to any religion or doctrine. It’s a universal, loving energy that meets you exactly where you are. Even skepticism is welcome—Reiki honors the whole of you. It does require consent and the gentle reminder from me, your mind and belief systems are powerful!

A Personal Note: How Reiki Found Me

I didn’t go looking for Reiki. It found me.

A few months after losing both of my parents, I was buried in the shock and sorrow that comes with sudden, seismic loss. The grief was all-encompassing. Nothing familiar could hold me—not my routines, not my strength, not even my words. I was suspended in that in-between space of before and after. I was changed, and I knew I couldn’t return to who I had been.

It was in that raw, untethered place that Reiki appeared—through the quiet generosity of a woman named Rose Wallace. She didn’t know me personally, only of me through mutual circles. Still, she opened her door and her heart, inviting me into a space I didn’t even know I needed.

Something in me said yes. Wholeheartedly. And I am forever grateful I listened.

That first session was like nothing I had experienced. There was no pressure, no fixing, no need to explain. Just warmth. Presence. A peace that came not from escaping my pain, but from being held within it—by something greater than myself. For the first time since everything had changed, I felt my soul stir. I felt connected—to my body, to my spirit, to my parents, and to the universe itself.

Reiki met me in my grief, not to erase it, but to remind me that I was not alone in it.

Since then, Reiki has become part of my life’s rhythm. I went on to study with Jo and Jeff Currier at Ways to Wellness in Midland, MI. Today, I share this practice with others navigating loss, trauma, transition, or simply the ache of being human.

Reiki is gentle, spiritual, and deeply intuitive. It doesn’t demand anything of you. It simply waits for your willingness to receive. It was there for me when I didn’t even know what I needed—and it might just be here for you now.
