A Few Notes About Reiki:
Reiki (霊気) comes from the Japanese words rei (universal/spiritual) and ki (life energy). It translates to “universal life force energy.”
It originated in early 20th-century Japan, founded by Mikao Usui, who taught that healing comes through spiritual connection, compassion, and practice.
Reiki is used in hospitals and hospices across the world to support relaxation, reduce pain and anxiety, and enhance overall well-being.
It works across time and space—meaning distance Reiki is just as potent and powerful as in-person sessions.
Animals, children, and plants all respond beautifully to Reiki—it transcends language and thought. It speaks in vibration.
A Personal Note: How Reiki Found Me...
I didn’t go looking for Reiki. It found me.
In the aching aftermath of losing both my parents, I was unraveling. Nothing from my past could hold me through the pain I was in. I was untethered, exhausted, and open to anything that might offer relief.
That’s when Reiki came into my life—through my first teacher, Rose Wallace, who held space for me when I could barely hold it for myself. In her presence, something softened. For the first time in a long time, I felt my body relax and my spirit return. That moment changed me.
I went on to study Reiki with Jo and Jeff Currier at Ways to Wellness in Midland, MI. Since then, Reiki has become part of my daily life. I share it with loved ones, with animals in pain or emotional distress, and with those navigating loss, trauma, transition, or the unknown.
This practice is gentle. It’s spiritual. It’s non-invasive. And it’s yours, if you’re ready to receive.
